Faculty Research and Publications

Faculty research at IMDR reflects a commitment to inquiry that matters — bridging academic depth with practical relevance. Through publications, case studies, and applied projects, our faculty contribute to new thinking in management, influence business and policy dialogue, and continuously enhance learning at IMDR.

Faculty Initiatives on Teaching and Learning

IMDR faculty continuously design and implement innovative teaching–learning initiatives that enrich classroom engagement, strengthen conceptual clarity, and promote critical, analytical, and application-oriented learning. Through approaches such as case-based discussions, collaborative learning, experiential projects, simulations, reflective exercises, and technology-enabled pedagogy, faculty create dynamic learning environments across disciplines. These initiatives encourage creativity, problem-solving, communication, and real-world decision-making while ensuring measurable and replicable academic outcomes.

Student Research and Publications

At IMDR, students evolve from learners to knowledge creators, actively engaging in the process of questioning, investigating, and publishing. Research is not an add-on but an integral part of their management journey. Each year, IMDR students present their research papers at national and international conferences and co-author publications with faculty in reputed journals. They also undertake multiple industry and social projects that bridge theory and practice. In addition, students regularly contribute to IMDR’s magazine Connect-E and to the institute’s growing repository of case studies, while also participating in research competitions hosted by leading B-schools across India. This continuous progression from learning to discovery and creation prepares IMDR students to think critically, explore independently, and contribute meaningfully to the world of management.

Research Resources

IMDR nurtures a strong research culture supported by institutional grants, external sponsorship, and structured academic governance. Faculty and students benefit from dedicated research funds for institutional studies, policy research, book publications, and sponsored projects across domains such as sustainability, agriculture, Indian Knowledge Systems, deep technologies, and management practice. The Institute also encourages externally funded and collaborative research, with faculty receiving duty leave, financial support, and mentorship to pursue sponsored projects, consultancy assignments, and publications in indexed journals. This ecosystem further extends to doctoral research under the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM), backed by formal research policies and continuous capacity-building through Faculty Development Programmes.

IMDR’s research infrastructure combines extensive digital databases with advanced analytical and modelling tools. Researchers have access to Scopus, the National Digital Library, EBSCO e-books, and a wide range of national and international indexed journals and ISBN publications. Academic integrity is supported through plagiarism and AI-detection systems. The Institute’s technology-enabled environment includes JMP education licences, MATLAB Student Edition, R, Power BI, Orange, MySQL, and industry-grade platforms such as TradingView and SAP University Alliance modules. These tools strengthen quantitative, computational, and financial research capabilities across disciplines. The IMDR library further enriches this ecosystem through its physical collection, multimedia access, remote e-resources, and Wi-Fi-enabled reading spaces.

Research engagement is reinforced through structured committees, publication platforms, and collaborative projects. The Research, Publications & Doctoral Program Committee guides research planning, supports proposal development, and oversees the institute’s scholarly outputs, including its DOI-enabled journal (JMDR). Faculty engage in international collaborations, industry-linked studies, case-writing, and conference presentations, contributing to globally relevant and practice-oriented insights. IMDR’s annual international conferences and associated publication tie-ups with indexed journals further expand scholarly visibility. Collectively, these resources create a comprehensive research environment that empowers impactful, application-oriented scholarship for both faculty and students.
