Education of the masses, diligent use of media and a common
cause make a lethal weapon to bringing about a change in
society at a thought level first and then followed by action.
Unlike today free media was a struggle pre-independence. In
an attempt to pen down the article on Tilak and Mass Media,
I got an opportunity to understand the rigour of the freedom
struggle, and how important the idea of ‘Swatntrata’ was. The
massive effort that went into educate the masses by using every
iota of your being towards a single agenda of freedom. Then
it was freedom from the British Rule, now it can be related
to freedom from dependency on other nations in terms of
technology, commerce, jobs, know-how, industry. The spirit
of Atmanirbhar Bharat probably once again needs powerful
expression to covert the country to a self -reliant one.
