In study to nd out overall impact on a lifestyle it is observed that, Time Spent with Family, Online
Meetings, Use of Mobile, TV, Internet and social media has increased during this lockdown. Few
people registered the major decrease in Income, Workload, Social Connect, and
Ofce/College/Social Life. Some of the variables like expenses, pursuing hobbies, mental health,
Physical Health did not see any major change during this Lockdown period (Figure 20)
Findings
1. Buying Habit
Study revealed that, majority (87%) of Indians are buying Grocery and Food from local vendors
during lockdown period and the frequency of visit was observed to be twice a week (58%). This is one
of the good signs that Indians are showing during this lockdown by supporting the appeal by Govt.
of India. The quantity bought by these people vary according to their needs. A large portion (46%) of
population is found to be buying extra items to be stocked for few more days and weeks. (Fig. 11-13)
2. Contribution to the Care Funds
Facts in the study indicated that, 50% of population have responded to the appeal of Honorable
Prime Minister &Chief Ministers and have contributed amount to the various care funds. 81% of
people those who contributed in such funds have contributed up to Rs.5000/- (Fig. 14&15)
3. Impact on Payment
It is observed that majority (61%) of respondents income was more than 40000 and it is noted that
they have received the major portion of their income during this lockdown but the people whose
income was less than 40000 (39%) have recorded that they received up to 50% of the their total
Income and some of them (18%) have mentioned that they have not received any part of their income
at all and majority of them were employer or businessman.
4. Time Spent on Smart Phone and TV
As the lockdown has made people to stay home and people have ample time available with them,
researcher was interested to know how they are spending this time. Majority (65%) of population is
spending time between 2 hrs. to 6 hrs. on Smart phone compared to Television (42%) less than 2
hrs. Most of time spent on Smart phone is for watching videos and movies (58%) and talking with
friends and family (29%). Most of the time (47%) spent on Television is spent on watching news. (Fig.
16-19)
5. Impact on Lifestyle
This study has revealed interesting facts about the impact on lifestyle during lockdown. It is
observed that people in age bracket of 31-40 have recorded that their time spent on Online Meeting
has increased and most of them are private sector employees. People in age bracket of 20-30 have
