In a normal year, an ephemeral stream has running water only during
and for a short time after precipitation episodes. Year-round,
ephemeral stream beds are found above the water table. e.g. Luni
River. Perennial rivers are rivers that have water throughout the year.

Himalayan rivers such as the Ganga and Bramhaputra are perennial
rivers in India. These are both rain-fed and created by glacier melting.
