But awakening the national consciousness is not just meant
for the silent majority to do their duty. It is also meant for
the corrupt politician, the inefficient bureaucrat, for someone
who destroys public property, the media who peddles the
wrong narrative and anyone who is derailing the India story.
Corruption and lethargy cannot become a way of life. They
and their descendants are also a part of India’s destiny. We
are a country of missed chances. All those in charge of India’s
destiny should probably read what Tilak said with such passion
and patriotic fervour a hundred years ago and ask themselves -
are we failing him?
