The Indian government is funding the construction of specialized freight lanes, which will enable
freight trains to travel to designated tracks without having to wait for passenger trains to pass. By
utilizing more powerful trains powered by electricity on the designated freight lines, the cost of
transporting cargo will eventually decrease. The locomotives that run on electricity will also
significantly lessen the logistics industry's environmental effect.

10,000 km of rail lines will be converted into high-speed, dedicated freight routes by Indian
Railways. The overall investment in this project is USD 320 billion. Five specific freight lanes are
now being planned, some of which are already operational and others of which are still in the
              development stages.
