The parcel train for the Joint Parcel Product (JPP) Scheme has scheduled departure and arrival
timings at the beginning, middle, and end stops. To ensure safe and secure travel on scheduled
trains, Indian Railways would provide secured sealed boxes for intermediate transmission between
origin and destination railway stations. Third-party insurance is available from the Post Department
to customers who use the JPP Service for just 0.03% of the cargo value.
To provide customers with a cost-effective option, the first-mile and last-mile service prices are
established at Rs 6/- per kg. This cost is reasonable compared to what is now being charged on the
highway. Moreover, a smartphone application is being developed so that consumers may plan
shipments, pay online, and track them in real-time.
Conclusions and Findings
Importance of Freight Traffic
Freight traffic is the big cause of income for Indian Railways. Only one-third of the 13000 trains
running regularly on IR are consignment trains, but it reports 65% of the total income of IR. Railway
Freight traffic is essential for the financial and technical progress of the country.
Raw materials from productive centers to workshops and done/semi-cultivated crops from shops to
use districts or ports for smuggling has expected transported. Erg: Coal reserves from Bengal and
