In every era, the educational institutions should work to meet
the needs of the society because the educational institutions
are not only shaping the students, but also shaping the nation
through them. The country needed a young generation of self-
determined patriots to fight during the period of independence.
The need of the society was to create citizens who would devote
themselves to various social reforms. After independence, the
society needed to provide capable students in various fields like
education, health, industry, research, trade, and administration
and strengthen their respective fields. At present, since the era of
economic reforms has started in India, the need of the society
is to start business education courses in such a way that the
students would be able to stand on their own feet. The Deccan
Education Society is doing its best to meet the needs of the
current time.
After the announcement of the new education policy, the
government proposed to set up a single satellite center for each
NAC accredited college to strengthen the education system in
rural and tribal areas. The Deccan Education Society started
four satellite centers in the Vanavasi areas. Initiatives were taken
to make the youth of the Vanavasi communities self-reliant.
Proud Work Done During the Coronavirus Pandemic
More than 100 employees of the Deccan Education Society
were engaged in various service activities during the Coronavirus
pandemic. There were two canteens running on the college
campus. From these canteens, the staff delivered two meals a
day to five hundred poor households in a nearby slum. Four
teachers joined the police department during the lockdown
as COVID warriors. When the lockdown brought millions of
workers on foot to their hometowns, the Deccan Education
Society staff provided them with meals, medical certificates,
and other necessities wherever possible. To control the spread of
the Coronavirus pandemic, distribution of masks and sanitizers
in the slums, as well as explaining the importance of wearing
masks and keeping safe distance, and the importance of frequent
handwashing at home, was done by our staff. In the second
