The researcher also tried to analyse, which of the expenditure are more likely to receive an
impact. Few expenditures that have been reported either Decreased or Highly Decreased by
majority of respondents are, Eating Out/Ordering In (79%), Online Shopping (74%),
Expenditure on Movies/entertainment (80%), Expenditure of Fuel consumption 90%),
Expenditure on socializing 81%). Few avenues have also been reported by the respondents
where expenditure is either Increased or Highly Increased like Groceries & supplies (53%),
Online Learning (57%) & Content Delivery Services (54%) – (Figure 11- Figure
On being asked, how long do they expect the expenditure pattern to continue, Majority (39%) of
the respondents reported that they expect the expenditure pattern to continue upto 3 months,
whereas 27% respondents feel that the expenditure pattern in unlikely to continue post
lockdown. For ease of understanding, the researcher has categorized the timelines into Short
Term (No impact – Impact upto 3 months), Medium Term (3-6 months) & Long term( More than
6 moths) & found that, majority (71%) respondents believe that the expenditure pattern caused
due to Covid 19 is unlikely to continue for more than 3 months. (Fig 19 & 20)
