Income & changes in Income
In response to the questions related to changes in Income, the questions were asked
separately for Salaried & self-employed respondents. 45% of the salaried respondents
reported no reduction in salary income. However, 35% of the respondents reported
having received information related to Pay cut or salary reduction from their employer,
whereas 20% of the respondents expect it to happen soon (Fig 7).
For Self-employed/Entrepreneur respondents, majority (67%) reported reduction in
income through reduction in revenue & another 28% expect it to happen soon. Only 5%
of the respondents, who are self-employed, do not expect any reduction in income due to
Covid 19 (Fig 8).
Present & Expected expenditure
On being asked about usual monthly expenditure, the amount of expenditure was
divided into 5 brackets, ranging from INR 10000 to INR 70,000 & above. 2 of the
expenditure brackets were found to be most common for the respondents, namely INR
10,000 – INR 25,000 reported by 35% of the respondents & INR 25,000 to INR 40,000,
reported by 36% of the respondents (Fig 9).
28% of the respondents reported a reduction in monthly expenditure around 10% - 20%,
whereas 22% respondents expect No change in their monthly expenditure, due to Covid
19. 17% respondents believe that their monthly expenditure will reduce upto 10%. 9%
respondents reported that they expect an increase in the monthly expenditure (Fig 10).
