Bhagwani, R. (2023). Strategies to Tackle Abilene Paradox in an Agile Global Workforce.
Embracing Diversity with Gen Z: Recognizing the value of diverse perspectives is vital, particularly
for Gen Z. Embrace the idea that differing viewpoints can enhance decision-making processes.
Encourage Gen Z and other group members to bring their unique perspectives to the table. By doing
so, you can steer clear of groupthink and make the most of the creativity and innovation that diversity
brings.
Encouraging Critical Thinking among Gen Z: In the context of Gen Z, it's essential to promote a culture
of critical thinking. Encourage Gen Z and other group members to question assumptions, beliefs, and
the status quo. Emphasize that constructive scepticism is a valuable part of the decision-making
process, empowering Gen Z to think critically and independently.
Utilizing the Devil's Advocate Role, Beneficial for Gen Z: Appointing a "devil's advocate" can be a
structured way to ensure that opposing views are considered, which is particularly relevant for Gen Z.
This individual is responsible for presenting counterarguments, prompting Gen Z and other group
members to think critically about the decision. This role encourages Gen Z to voice their concerns
without hesitation.
Anonymous Input for Gen Z and All Group Members: Allowing group members, including Gen Z, to
submit their opinions and concerns anonymously can be especially helpful in mitigating fears of
retribution or conflict. This approach creates a safe space for Gen Z and others to provide candid and
honest feedback without the fear of backlash.
