of the millet value chain in Maharashtra. Their findings emphasized
the importance of value addition through processing, tapping into the
increasing demand in urban areas for healthy foods, and strengthening
the overall millet value chain to foster better market opportunities.

Millets, once marginalized in the dietary patterns post the Green
Revolution, are seeing renewed interest due to various health,
environmental, and market factors. While the global trend is positive,
localized issues, such as the declining demand and production in

Maharashtra, need to be addressed holistically.

        3.1. Research Methodology

This chapter details the methodology employed to investigate the

various dimensions associated with millet production in Maharashtra
state, focusing on areas like sustainable agricultural practices,
implications for smallholder farmers, diversity of millet varieties,
nutritional significance, and market opportunities. Given the
exclusive emphasis on secondary data, this chapter elucidates the

rationale for this approach and outlines the procedures adopted to
collect, analyze, and interpret the relevant data.

        3.2. Research Design

The framework of this study relies exclusively on the collection
and analysis of secondary data, obviating the need for primary data
acquisition methods such as surveys, interviews, or field observations.
Instead, the research draws upon pre-existing literature, academic
studies, reports, and other published materials as the primary sources

        of data.

Rationale: The adoption of a secondary data approach offers several
compelling advantages in the context of government schemes
available for millet production and processing:
