This book is our homage to Lokmanya Tilak on his death
centenary. We consider ourselves fortunate to have got the
opportunity to work on it. The book is a collaborative work
that has been completed despite our academic and other
responsibilities at IMDR. It would have been impossible to do
so without support.

We are grateful to Dr. Deepak Tilak, Editor & Trustee, Kesari,
and Chancellor, Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth, for writing the
foreword for this book. We are highly obliged to him and thank
him from the bottom of our hearts.

We are indebted to Dr. Sharad Kunte, Chairman, Governing
Body & Council, Deccan Education Society for sparing time
from his busy schedule to write two articles for this volume.
This inspired and motivated us to give our best towards this
book.
We would like to thank Shri. Mahesh Athavale, Vice-
Chairman, Governing Body & Council, Deccan Education
Society, and Chairman, Local Management Committee,
Deccan Education Society’s IMDR Pune for his guidance and
