Page 9 - Swatantrata to Atmanirbharta : Lokmanya Tilak’s legacy
P. 9
Swaraj means self-rule, self-restraint, equal right, swa-
dharma, swa-bhasha etc. which creates equality, justice, peace
and development.
Tilak’s movement of Nationalism rests on Satva or Love for
motherland and common interest which brought divided India
to one nation. All the citizens in the nation have common cause
to prosper.
The contributors should have mentioned about Tilak’s view
on social reforms. Tilak was a reformer but was against British
penal interference. His opposition to Pandita Ramabai was for
religious conversions and not for female education.
Lokmanya Tilak’s life is a big canvas. I must congratulate all
the writers or contributors who have tried hard to revisit Tilak’s
thoughts and correlate them to Atmanirbharta.
These contributions will help the young generation to know
the blueprint of Lokmanya Tilak’s thoughts for the development
of a nation.
I am also thankful to DES for the thought-provoking tribute
to Lokmanya Tilak on his 100th Death Anniversary.
