The volume is divided into four sections i.e. 1) Politics and
Polity 2) Business and Economy 3) Education and Social
Change 4) National Consciousness.
Many scholars associated with the Deccan Education Society
have contributed by sharing their views about Lokmanya Tilak’s
thoughts in today’s context.
It is very difficult for me to take a review of writings of all
these scholars who have tried to analyze various angles of
Lokmanya Tilak’s visionary thoughts beyond times which are
pragmatic, modern and realistic based on ancient rich Indian
Culture.
Just to review a few:
Dr. Dilip Kanade has analyzed Ganesh Utsav and Shiv Jayanti
as a bridge between the aspiration of independence amongst
the elite as well as the commoner and admired the relationship
between Congress and Muslim League.
Dr. Parikshit Mahankal has explained the situation of plague
and praised Lokmanya Tilak as a shining beacon of light in the
darkness of slaved India and he aroused many to stand up for
the nation and take the fight to the oppressor.
Prof. Dilip Ranadive explains Lucknow Pact 1916. Tilak’s
logic and eloquence carried the day for Lokmanya Tilak not
only in the Congress but also helped in removing the doubts
from the members of Muslim League.
As per Dr. Kamlakar Parchure, the impact of Tilak’s
philosophy of Sawdeshi brought a remarkable change in
industrial ethos or mindset and lifestyle of average middle class
Marathi Manoos.
Whereas Shri. Shivanand Gokhale found Lokmanya Tilak
as a Management Guru; who was perhaps the first leader to
understand and promote identity as a tool to galvanize the
people to look beyond the aspect of cast, creed and other selfish
aspects.
