to India. Some states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Tamil Nadu are
still advanced in industrial sector. Even within these provinces, there is
no uniform distribution of industries in all the districts. Industries are
not well developed in many parts of the country. These industries need
to be expanded in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh,
Rajasthan, Bengal, Jammu and Kashmir and Purvanchal. Under the self-
reliant India scheme, a large number of tax breaks and other facilities
are being provided for setting up of these industries. India will see their
impact in the near future.
India’s trade with foreign countries is likely to increase manifold.
There are 200 countries in the world. Today, India trades with about 50 of
them(Prof.Ashok Soman,India,2016). India is striving to establish trade
relations with all other countries to some extent. India is developing two
major routes in this endeavor, the highway from Manipur to Vietnam
via Myanmar and the trade route from the Iranian port of Chabahar to
the southern countries of Russia, Georgia, Central Asian countries and
Europe. It is likely to increase many times over. Conflict in the South
China Sea has led Japan, Australia, Vietnam, South Korea, Philippines
and Taiwan to suspend trade with China. India’s trade relations with these
countries are growing faster. France and other European countries are
keen to boost trade ties with India, as the US and Britain have defrauded
France of an Australia Govt contract of submarines. China has started
to seize many of the ports of the African countries by holding them
in financial straits. That is why there is so much mistrust in African
countries today about China. For this reason, countries in Africa are
eager to expand trade with India instead of China in the future. To date,
India’s economic relations with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates
and other Arab countries were at minimal level. Pakistan was getting
extensive economic benefits from these countries. But since Pakistan did
not help in the wake of the Yemen war, all these countries have moved
away from Pakistan (Prof.Ashok Soman,India,2016) and have come to
the mindset of accepting India as their trading and military partner. It is
in India’s interest to expand trade with these countries on a large scale.
The industry will benefit from importing crude oil from Saudi Arabia
to India and refining it through various refineries in India and trading it
after refining, worldwide. The refinery at Jamnagar has been successfully
operating in this respect. Similarly, Saudi Arabia is keen to set up a large oil
refinery at Nanar in Maharashtra. Taking advantage of this opportunity,
this one project alone is giving India a huge potential to grow its economy
