solutions. Notably, the paper also spotlights need to incorporate environment-conscious 'green skills' in light
of sustainability imperatives - an area hitherto lacking focus. Overall, the work underscores importance of

Vocational Education and Training in India: Prospects and Challenges from an Outside Perspective:
Matthias Pilz and Julia Regel
The work by Pilz and Regel examines India's vocational education and training (VET) ecosystem from an
external standpoint. It outlines foundational pillars shaping formal VET delivery mechanisms. Gaps prompting
recent policy interventions aiming to restructure vocational skilling value chains receive attention, notably
attempts towards integration with mainstream education. However, challenges constraining scalability and
quality benchmarks continue confounding stakeholders. While highlighting untapped potential for foreign
collaborations and private participation to bolster the VET sector, the authors caution against lack of home-
grown empirical insights guiding decision-making so far. Significantly, the analysis relies entirely on
secondary literature without incorporating perspectives from Indian stakeholders experiencing VET
limitations first-hand. Hence the paper reveals need and scope for indigenous primary surveys assessing
realities, pain points and priorities across roles to inject new vigor into the policy reform agenda.
A study on NEP 2020: Implementation of Vocational Education and its challenges in Hailakandi District
of Assam: Taj Uddin Laskar
This study focuses on the implementation of vocational education and its challenges in the Hailakandi District
of Assam under the National Education Policy 2020. Vocational education aims to provide practical skills for
specific careers. The objectives are to review the state of vocational schools in Hailakandi, understand the
difficulties they face in implementing the NEP 2020 guidelines, and develop better strategies tailored to that
remote agricultural district known for crops like paddy, mustard and sugarcane. A few local vocational schools
have been identified for the study. While broader research covers entire states, this paper will analyze ground
realities in this individual district in order to shape localized solutions, also serving as an example to encourage
similar narrow-area case studies across Assam.
Vocational Skills and Nation Education Policy 2020: Dr. Jyoti Yadav
Vocational education that provides practical training for specific jobs is key to India’s development, yet it has
been neglected in the past curriculum. This study by Dr. Jyoti Yadav aims to assess the provisions made under
the 2020 National Education Policy (NEP) to expand vocational skills programs in schools and higher
education in order to boost employability. The objectives are to analyze the current status of vocational
education, evaluate the vocational development initiatives proposed in NEP 2020 such as introducing
vocational exposure from Class 6 onwards, setting Indian Institutes of Skills Excellence to align training with
