Need of an agile workforce
The necessity for an agile workforce stem from its capacity to effectively navigate environmental
turbulence and seize opportunities amid challenges. This adaptability extends across all facets of the
organization, encompassing functional entities, practices, culture, and infrastructure. A workforce
imbued with agility ensures organizational responsiveness to competitive pressures, shifting market
dynamics, technological advancements, and human resource limitations.
Both external and internal environments present a spectrum of opportunities and threats,
necessitating the organization's workforce to anticipate and analyze changes. External drivers, such
as unpredictable market conditions, intense competition, evolving customer preferences, and
technological progress, require a versatile and cross-trained workforce capable of swift adaptation
and proactive exploitation of opportunities for organizational benefit. (Muhammed Ali Kt, 2021)
Internally, an agile workforce is indispensable for reconfiguring work processes, fostering creative
problem-solving, managing stress, and fostering organizational flexibility. The essence of an agile
enterprise lies in its workforce's adeptness in problem-solving, eagerness for change, and
willingness to tackle challenges. Predictive insights into market trends and internal processes enable
employees to cultivate diverse competencies and swiftly adapt to new tasks and projects. (Jones,
2013)
Moreover, the ability to thrive in stressful situations and navigate change and ambiguity
underscores the importance of a flexible workforce capable of addressing both internal and external
challenges. (Suresh, 2019)
