Rajasthan is the largest contributor (16.3%) in millet production in
India. The second highest producer of millet is Karnataka (15.5%),
Maharashtra (11.9%) and Uttar Pradesh (9%). Together, these four

production has registered the highest growth rate in Maharashtra
(38%) followed by Haryana (29%), Jharkhand (27%), West Bengal
(21%), and Odisha (18%) in 2020-21 corresponding to previous

        years.

Millets need to be promoted at the global level as they can aid in
the prevention of the global issue of malnutrition. They consist of
phytochemicals that promote potential health benefits which help in

the prevention of metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and
cardiovascular disease (Ambati & Sucharith, 2019)

Overall, Millets have been historically very important and are
sustainable as well as very nutritious. The studies conducted on

Millets in the context of economics have revealed that with the
invention of sustainable agricultural practices and an increase in
demand, the cultivation of millets promises to be a high-income
        generating source for the farmers.
