in both creations of accounts as well as sourcing
of credit. Majority of accounts are opened under
‘Shishu’ scheme and participation in Tarun Scheme
(Major Projects) is less. The participation of PSBs
and RRBs in the scheme is insignificant compared
to private banks, which will be a favourable trend
in the long run.
RESEARCH GAP AND PROBLEM STATEMENT
The review of literature has shown that various
studies have been conducted to study the
performance of the PMMY scheme and to study
the prospects and challenges associated with the
scheme in India. Few of the studies were focused
to the study the awareness level of potential
beneficiaries and the satisfaction level of the
existing beneficiaries of PMMY in the specific sector.
The research gap is found when it comes to study
the perception of the beneficiaries of the scheme
and the banks or financial institutions which are
responsible for the implementation of the scheme.
It also provides the scope of understanding the
gap between their perceptions of both these parties
which may help to assess the prospects and
challenges associated with the PMMY scheme.
