In keeping with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN, Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. is
committed to promoting positive change via its commercial operations and Corporate Social
Responsibility initiatives. Aligned with both the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals
and India's social development objectives, Kotak works to improve community well-being via
promoting education, livelihood, healthcare, sports, and environmental sustainability, among other
projects.
The bank involves staff members in volunteerism and engagement activities as part of its
cooperative implementation of CSR initiatives. In addition to adhering to CSR obligations, Kotak
strives to coordinate its projects with UN SDGs and government social development programs and
interventions. With the help of projects that have been approved by the Corporate Social
Responsibility and Environment, Social, and Governance Committee, as well as clearly defined
priority areas, Kotak hopes to create significant and quantifiable societal effects through its CSR
Policy. In order to promote community welfare and sustainable development and make a major
contribution to the realization of the SDGs, Kotak excludes activities connected to regular business
operations and political donations from its CSR efforts.
5. Results & findings
Below are the main areas of emphasis for education and livelihood promotion, with a
comprehensive strategy meant to promote empowerment and holistic development within
communities. Improving learning outcomes in schools is essential to these initiatives because it
guarantees that everyone has access to high-quality education. Supporting chances for higher
education is also prioritized, allowing people to reach their full potential and strive for academic
greatness. Initiatives aimed at enhancing livelihoods and fostering entrepreneurship work to foster
an innovative and self-sufficient culture that will support sustainable livelihoods and economic
empowerment.
The main CSR partner in the education sector is Kotak Education Foundation (KEF). KEF
provides education and livelihood-based programs to support children and young people from low-
income families. Through a number of initiatives in the areas of supporting livelihoods, providing
scholarships, and enabling school education, it has taken a comprehensive approach. Working with
the State Government, KEF extended its influence throughout Maharashtra in FY 2022–2023 with
the Model School Project.
