                         of Millets in Maharashtra

        1.1 Introduction

        Millets, often termed as ‘miracle grains’, have long been a staple in
        the Indian diet, especially in arid and semi-arid regions. Over the past
        few decades, Maharashtra, a state known for its diverse agricultural

        practices,  has seen a decline in the cultivation  and production
        of  millet  due  to  various  challenges.  However,  considering  their
        nutritional value, drought-resistant nature, and low carbon footprint,
        there is a pressing need to revitalize millet farming in the region. This

        paper aims to outline a comprehensive action plan to enhance millet
        production in Maharashtra. Through a multi-faceted approach that
        integrates technological advancements, farmer training, and market-
        driven strategies, this research strives to spotlight the significance of

        millets and ensure their sustainability in Maharashtra’s agricultural
