           • Potential to mitigate climate change by growing drought-
               tolerant millets

Despite multiple challenges, the outlook for millet production in

India is positive. The government is committed to promoting millet
production and consumption, and there is a growing demand for
millet from both domestic and international markets.

        5.1 Findings:

The analysis of academic and non-academic resources reveals insights
into agronomic practices, economic dimensions, market dynamics,
policy implications, and the nutritional significance of millets.

Agronomic Practices: Practices such as sustainable production
systems, adoption of integrated nutrient management and water-
saving techniques, exploration of precision farming, etc. have been
constantly emphasized by various researchers and scholars. This
indicates a trend towards technologically advanced practices for

        optimizing millet yields.

Economic Dimensions: The cost-benefit analysis done by various
scholars suggests that millets are highly economically competitive in
water-scarce regions and have inherent income generation capacity

which signifies an economically promising trajectory for millet
        farming in India.

Market Dynamics: Because of a shift in consumer preferences
towards healthier and sustainable food choices, demand for millet-

based food products is constantly increasing at a very high rate. This
expanding market for millet-based products suggests the economic
opportunities for farmers and agribusinesses aligned with evolving
