        Awareness of millets in Maharashtra

Millets have been traditionally cultivated and consumed in

Maharashtra for centuries, especially in rural areas. Maharashtra is
one of the major millet-producing states in India, with a rich diversity
of millet varieties such as jowar, bajra, ragi, and nachni (finger millet).

However, in recent years, there has been a decline in the consumption

of millet in Maharashtra, especially in urban areas, due to the
increasing popularity of processed and packaged foods. This has led
to a decrease in the cultivation of millets, which has further impacted
the availability and affordability of millets in the state.

A study conducted on 56 participants on the awareness of millets in
Maharashtra suggests that the majority of the sample population is
aware of Millets. 95% of the responses show Millets awareness and
only 1 respondent is unaware of the Millets
