Several initiatives have been taken to promote the consumption of
millet in Maharashtra. The state government has launched a program
called “Mukhya Mantra Khadyanna Yojana” to provide millet-based

food to school children and to encourage millet cultivation among
farmers. The government has also set up a “Millet Mission” to
promote the production and consumption of millets in the state.

In addition, several NGOs and private organizations have been

working to promote millet as a healthy and sustainable food in
Maharashtra. For example, the Sahaja Samrudha Organic Farmer’s
Association has been promoting the cultivation of millets among

farmers in the state, while the Millet Network of India has been
working to create awareness about the nutritional benefits of millets
among consumers. While there is still a need to increase awareness
about the nutritional and health benefits of millets among consumers
in Maharashtra, there are several initiatives underway to promote

their cultivation and consumption, which is a positive step towards
creating a more sustainable and healthy food system.

The study found that the majority of the population is aware of Millets.
