5.2.5 Scope of Cloud Computing in Indian Technical Education
The paper conducted a literature review on cloud computing and IT models to gain a better understanding of
the state-of-the-art technology in the context of technical education in India. The study aimed to explore the
adoption of cloud computing in technical educational institutions in India and identify the future scope of
cloud computing in these organizations. The paper also discussed the trend of outsourcing and subcontracting
in cloud computing, which has led to larger portions of technology systems being moved outside the control
and responsibility of companies.
The study highlighted the popularity of software as a service (SaaS) in cloud computing, with 48.4% of
organizations using this model. However, the use of platform as a service (PaaS) and infrastructure as a service
(IaaS) was relatively low, with only 17.7% of organizations using each model. The motivation behind the study
was to propose a viable cloud computing model suitable for the needs of technical educational institutes in the
Indian scenario.
