take up millet cultivation. This includes providing financial
assistance for buying seeds, fertilizers, and other inputs
               required for millet farming.

Overall, these initiatives by the government of Maharashtra are aimed
at increasing awareness of millets and promoting their consumption
        in the state.

Maharashtra, being an agriculture-driven state, has been promoting

the cultivation of millets as a means to improve the nutritional
status of its people, promote sustainable agriculture, and support
the livelihoods of small and marginal farmers. This report presents
findings on the promotion of millets in Maharashtra, based on an
analysis of government policies, schemes, and initiatives, as well as

on-the-ground observations and interviews with farmers, government
        officials, and experts

The Government of Maharashtra has introduced several policies and
schemes to promote the cultivation and consumption of millet. These

include the Maharashtra State Millet Mission, launched in 2018, which
aims to promote the cultivation of millets on 1 million hectares of
land by 2023. Under this mission, the government provides subsidies

on seeds, fertilizers, and farm equipment to farmers who cultivate
millets. In addition, the government has also introduced a millet-
based mid-day meal scheme in schools, which provides nutritious
        meals to children using millet.
