Moreover, the promotion of millet has also led to the development
of new millet-based products, such as snacks and cereals, which are
        becoming increasingly popular among consumers.

        Impact on Farmers:

The promotion of millet has had a positive impact on farmers in
Maharashtra. Many farmers who have switched to millet cultivation
have reported higher yields, improved soil fertility, and lower input

costs, as millets require less water, fertilizer, and pesticides than
other crops. Moreover, millets have a higher market value than other
traditional crops, which has provided farmers with higher incomes
        and improved their livelihoods.

        Challenges and the Way Forward:

Despite the positive impact of millet promotion, several challenges
need to be addressed. One of the main challenges is the lack
of awareness and demand for millets among consumers. Many

people still prefer rice and wheat over millet, which has limited the
market for millet-based products. In addition, there is also a lack of
infrastructure and processing facilities for millets, which has made it
difficult for farmers to sell their produce.

To address these challenges, the government needs to focus on
creating awareness among consumers about the nutritional benefits
of millets and promoting the use of millets in restaurants and food
outlets. The government also needs to invest in the development of
processing facilities and infrastructure for millets, which will provide

farmers with better market access and help increase the value of their
        produce.
