The COVID 19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to every country in the world, since all the countries are facing similar challenges, therefore knowledge sharing on the approaches and measures in dealing with covid-19 pandemic among the countries and stakeholders is critical for their effective response and swift recovery from the crisis. IMDR has started a new series of meet-up for our students, wherein, resource persons who are witnessing such economic upheavals in different parts of the country will join us to share how business and economies are preparing to unlock and overcome the challenges in from of them.

Under this initiative IMDR Pune invited Mr. John Varughese from UAE on Friday, 24th July 2020. He is the SVP- Head of International Dunkin' Brands UAE

He is alumnus from PGDM Batch of 1989-91. The webinar was conducted for the students of PGDM-II. He discussed about his significant learning from his alma-mater IMDR Pune.

He shared with the students about his career path and philosophies. He advised that one should enjoy one’s work and constantly improve in order to gain success.

He gave students insight on the consumer behaviour in pandemic towards ice-cream and how the logistics of a company has to be nice and solid to meet the customer expectations. He highlighted that the customer tends to go for credible brands in times of uncertainty and food safety is a crucial aspect. He also listed that adaption and product differentiation of a company plays an important while a consumer selects a product

He stressed the fact that soft skills and knowledge play a very vital role in one’s career. One should have clear goal and go an extra mile to achieve it.

He emphasised on significance of hard work, passion, dignity of labour, clarity of purpose, initiative which are undoubtedly very important ingredients for a successful career. His insights into consumer behaviour - ice cream as an indulgence at home during pandemic, safety as a critical feature of food products during pandemic, importance of a credible brand and finally - importance of brand 'you' etc., have been really appreciated by all the participants. The session was interactive and enriching as students gained insight on how to stand out of the crowd.
