The COVID 19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges to every country in the world, since all the countries are facing similar challenges, therefore knowledge sharing on the approaches and measures in dealing with covid-19 pandemic among the countries and stakeholders is critical for their effective response and swift recovery from the crisis. IMDR has started a new series of meet-up for our students, wherein, resource persons who are witnessing such economic upheavals in different parts of the country will join us to share how business and economies are preparing to unlock and overcome the challenges in from of them.

Under this initiative IMDR Pune invited Mr. Sachin Kulkarni, from London United Kingdom on Saturday, 25th July 2020. He is Business Consultant & Engagement Manager, Capgemini, London, UK.

He is alumnus from PGDIT Batch of 2005-07. The webinar was conducted for the students of PGDM-II. He discussed about his significant learning from his alma-mater IMDR Pune.

He shared his experience on how the pandemic has affected the UK economy and the measures that were taken by the Government to deal with it. There was a change in the lifestyle and technology was driving it.

He shared extensively his insights into the contemporary topics like work from home scenario, supply chain management and rapid digital transformation as a result of the pandemic in London.

He mentioned that UK as a country has a lot of social layer and the COVID-19 created an immense impact in terms of economic, political, research and development and art.

He explored a positive angle of the word ‘disruption’ in the wake of this uncertainty. Appreciating nature, re-skilling and categorizing needs versus wants have become vital.

He also mentioned about the NHS and the loan taken by the UK government by WHO to manage the novel coronavirus. Businesses were given monetary supports and Furlough Scheme was explained by the speaker.

The students were advised to be that technology bent is a must in such a situation since the businesses are massively dependent on it.

Students gained an insight on how they can utilize their time in re-skilling and appreciating the nature. The session was informative and truly enriching
